So every year the Super Bowl takes place, a game of American Football is played and there’s some morbid attempt at music otherwise known as the half time show. Of course, none of this is really remotely interesting and the only reason people tune in is to see the adverts. Adverts which cost roughly $4 million to have broadcast. Yes, $4 million for a 30-120 second clip during the biggest television broadcast on the planet. And people say we are in a recession.

So without any further ado, here are the shiny new trailers for Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Fast & Furious 6, The Lone Ranger and Oz The Great & The Powerful.

First up, Iron Man 3. Showing some new footage and a few glimpses of new armor and new characters and a silly but amusing “intro” from Robert Downey Jr.

Star Trek Into Darkness is building up its potential of being the big film of the year. Again featuring a voice over by Benedict Cumberbatch and showcasing JJ Abrams’s eye for complete and utter destruction, Star Trek Into Darkness looks simply epic.

Looking utterly ridiculous but all the better for it, Fast & Furious 6 continues the franchise that gives Paul Walker reason to be. With lines like “we’re talking vehicular warfare” and “we’ve graduated to a whole new level” don’t, ever, expect anything smart to come from this film. Just enjoy the films glorious stupidity.

Even though The Lone Ranger is one of my lesser anticipated films this year, I do have to admit this trailer has raised my interest somewhat. Maybe I’ll even be pleasantly surprised come August time.

One of the shorter Super Bowl trailers, Oz The Great & The Powerful looks extremely trippy. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Sam Raimi and flying monekys could all combine to make a surprise hit this summer.

Unfortunately there were no spots for Oblivion, World War Z or Man Of Steel. Which is a particular shame as I thought getting another teaser out there for DC’s big blue boy scout would have been very beneficial to the films overall haul. Never mind though, we had some nice spots, Star Trek being my personal favorite. Time will tell if my excitement is misplaced or not.
