Daily news roundup: March 21st 2013

A very late roundup tonight, so I’ll be swift. Look below for the best of today’s news.

Lets begin.

  • Goosebumps, the once very popular kids horror series, is set for a big screen adaptation. Rob Letterman is set to direct, and that story can be found here
  • Transformers 4 released some new plot details, which set fanboys pulses racing and sparked off some serious speculation. That story can be found here.
  • After several other directors have come and gone for various reason, the movie version of The Equalizer is now looking to set up Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen) as its director.
  • Finally, the news everybody wanted to hear. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set for his own Fast & Furious spin off movie, as Agent Luke Hobbs. I’m not sure the Fast franchise has ever been about anything more than looking pretty and having some cool stunts (which is no bad thing), I’m just not sure it’s particularly ripe with rich characters that could hold their own in a stand alone movie. Then again, this is The Rock, and I’m pretty sure people do whatever he tells them, so if he wants a Hobbs’ solo film he damn well gets one.
