Now this is more like it.
I’m really quite looking forward to seeing World War Z. Even though, from the trailers at least, it doesn’t bear the closest resemblance to the book it’s based on, it still looks like a satisfying summer blockbuster with lots of zombie action.
I’m not sure how intimate the film will be, as the book plays each account from a different individuals perspective and that really helps to drive home the force of the pandemic. The book also focuses heavily on regional politics and the ignorance of many nations toward what is happening until it’s on their doorstep, and I’m not sure how much of the finer details the film will be able to cram in.
As I say though, the movie still looks like a lot of fun and if it’s half as good as the book then we are all in for a treat.
World War Z stars Brad Pitt and is directed by Marc Forster. Due for release on June 21st, the IMDb has this synopsis: “United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.”
