Matthew Vaughn joins the Secret Service

So this is what Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-Ass) will be doing instead of directing X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Vaughn will direct Secret Service, which is based upon the comic book of the same name which was written by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Millar also wrote the Kick-Ass comic book.

Due for release on November 14th 2014, in the US at least. Secret Service tells the story of ” A seasoned Secret Service agent who takes a younger agent under his wing as they investigate the murder of every resident of a small town and a mysterious secret involving Mount Everest.”

I’m already a big fan of Vaughn’s work and I don’t think he has put a foot wrong yet as a director. If you will allow me to play “what if” briefly, I would love to see Vaughn handed the job of directing the next, or just a future Bond film. I think after Layer Cake, and the way X-Men: First Class plays its first act, I can really see Vaughn doing a great job there.
