Film producers John Giwa-Amu (The Machine) and Matt Wilkinson from locally-filmed movie The Call Up will be attending this month’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con. Show visitors will get a taste of the upcoming sci-fi actioner, which has just started shooting in Birmingham and is the debut feature from award-winning commercials director Charles Barker.
The Call Up follows an elite group on online gamers invited to test a state-of-the-art virtual reality game; a next-level gaming experience that brings modern warfare to life with frightening realism. But what starts as a dream encounter with cutting edge technology quickly turns into a living nightmare. Now the masters of the shoot ’em up have a real fight on their hands!
Topping the 2011 Brit List of best unproduced screenplays in the UK, The Call Up will star Max Deacon (Into the Storm, Hatfields & McCoys) in the lead role. Other cast members include Morfydd Clark (Madame Bovary), Ali Cook (The Anomaly), Parker Sawyers (Monsters: Dark Continent), Tom Benedict Knight (Dracula Untold), Boris Ler (In The Land Of Blood And Honey) and feature film newcomers Douggie McMeekin and Adriana Randall.
Cast appearances at the show TBC shortly.
