Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) is apparently in talks to join the upcoming Suicide Squad film for DC and Warner Bros. With Courtney apparently connected to the role of supervillain, Deadshot.
Courtney is an actor seemingly in high demand right now, and his acquisition here could be seen as something of a coup for DC. The Australian actors career has been on the rise since he starred in Jack Reacher alongside Tom Cruise. He has since had roles in A Good Day to Die Hard, Divergent and will also star in the oddly titled Terminator: Genisys.
Despite his Australian roots, the actor will not be playing Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad, a role that is oddly being touted for Will Smith, but will instead play ace hitman Deadshot. The character has appeared in several DC animated films and live action TV shows, with the most recent of those being Arrow, and Batman: Assault on Arkham, where he essentially played the leader of the team.
If Courtney signs on he will join Margot Robbie, who has apparently signed on as Harley Quinn. While rumours suggest that DC are still chasing the likes of Tom Hardy, Will Smith and Jared Leto for roles in the film.
The Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer (Fury) and will hit cinemas sometime in 2016.
