With Captain America: Civil War due for release in May 2016, speculation and hype have already started gathering around the much-anticipated release. With a cast list already consisting of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman we can now add Daniel Bruhl to the list.

Bruhl, who starred alongside Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard’s Rush, has signed on for to play a villain who, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, won’t be the main villain in Captain America: Civil War and will likely feature more heavily in the Doctor Strange film.

Feige had the following to say on the casting of Bruhl:

“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”

Details are currently sparse on the film, but we do know that Chris Evans will return as Cap, while Downey Jr. will return as Iron Man, and we likely see the two come to physical and verbal blows as a result of the Superhero Registration Act. We also know that Chadwick Boseman will make an appearance as the Black Panther, while regulars such as Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Mackie will likely return.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in the UK on April 29th 2016 and May 6th 2016 in the USA.
