As you all undoubtedly know by now, it has been another busy day in movie land. With the official unveiling of the new James Bond film, and the first teaser trailer from Terminator Genisys both arriving, there has been various levels of excitement on social media today.
First up came the news that Bond 24 will officially be titled Spectre, and will see the return of Daniel Craig as 007, while Sam Mendes (Skyfall) will return to direct. Joining Craig will be Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Rory Kinnear who also all return to their roles from Skyfall. Starring in their first Bond film will be Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux and Andrew Scott.
Sam Mendes has since spoken about Spectre to BBC Radio One, and told them why he returned to the franchise after originally casting doubt on whether or not he would be back:
“I felt an attachment to the characters that we created in Skyfall. I felt like there was unfinished business, and that there was a lot more I could do with them once I’d kind of stepped aside and had some time off.”
“A lot of the last movie was shot in and around London, which I loved, but there’s a limited amount of stuff you can shoot in London, and I feel this has more mischief in it, perhaps, a little bit more of the unexpected. But it also does relate back to Skyfall in many ways.”
Eon have also released an official synopsis for Spectre and an official poster, which die-hard fans of the series will no doubt see a few similarities in:
“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.”
In other news, next years Terminator Genisys (really, still?) has unveiled its teaser trailer, and while it doesn’t look as bad I thought it might have done, it also doesn’t look spectacular either and looks like a generic summer blockbuster.
The film has already proved controversial with fans, as it appears to completely to be resetting the entire timeline of the established universe. You can see the full trailer below.
